The Raleigh Chapter is 1 of 13 chapters in Region 11 (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Coastal Georgia). We are Chapter # 92 in the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC). NAWIC offers members an opportunity to meet other women in the Construction Industry, who are driven professionally and personally through common interests and goals.
The Raleigh Chapter General Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at the NCSU University Club, located at 4200 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27606 with a social starting at 5:30 PM and dinner at 6 PM. The cost for dinner is $22.00 for members.

Kick start your 2019 by joining the National Association of Women in Construction for our first monthly meeting! Our monthly meetings offer members and newcomers an opportunity to meet and network with other women in the construction industry who are driven professionally and personally through common interests and goals. We are a diverse group of women in varying sectors of the construction industry and encourage you to join us. Networking begins at 5:30 and then dinner and our speaker begin around 6:00 with more time to connect after.
Joy Ruhmann, a native of Raleigh, N.C., is a passionate and engaging change agent who focuses on helping leaders build strong teams and understand and resolve unique people issues that serve as obstacles to their success.
She started her career in the banking industry and worked her way to the C-Suite where she faced many of the issues her clients deal with today. Joy received a BSBA in Business Administration from East Carolina University’s College of Business and holds certifications in a wide variety of tools and processes designed to facilitate sustainable growth for her client organizations. Her passion is to clearly understand her client’s needs and change their world through team and workplace transformation!
Joy’s certifications include personal assessments based on the DISC model of human behavior, a Passion profile which highlights that which motivates us into action and the Judgment profile, a powerful tool that gets to the heart of the ways in which we think that contribute to our key strengths and potential vulnerabilities. She holds two nationally certified coaching certifications, one grounded in the work of Judith E. Glaser and Conversational Intelligence™ and the other based on personal life coaching. She is strong advocate for the leadership programs of the Ken Blanchard Companies.
In addition to using personal assessments in her work, she holds certifications in the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks 360 and the Bar-on EQi 360. In all her assessment work, her goal is to work with clients to gather meaningful feedback that enhances individual leadership effectiveness and improves organizational results. She also has certifications that allow for highly effective organization wide surveys that get to the heart of the level of trust in the organizational and the values driving, or potentially limiting the organization’s success.Joy’s worked with for-profit organizations, non-profit organization and trade associations. She’s served as the leadership instructor for the NC Banker’s Association since 2006 and has served as the lead facilitator of the NC Bar Association’s Leadership Academy since 2015. Specific local non-profits she’s worked with include the NC Symphony, Triangle Family Services, Ravenscroft School and Durham Academy.
