MERIT AWARD NOMINATIONS Each
year the Raleigh Chapter of NAWIC presents a Merit Award to an outstanding
citizen in the construction industry. This person must be employed in the construction industry for at least 20 years and has helped to promote the industry. We compile the applications for the award and send them out for review by a panel of three judges. Each application is reviewed without the name by the judges to ensure fairness to the applicants.

you would like to submit an application for this award, please do so by using
the attached form. This form must be
returned to Teresa Doman no later than May 28th for consideration towards this award. The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF)
(go to website) was established in 1973 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). NEF is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, which means all donations are deductible as a charitable donation. The Board of Trustees governs the Foundation.
The Foundation has developed several programs and competitions created to foster and promote construction as a viable career choice among students from grade school to high school level.
The award-winning program introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and to promote an interest in future careers in one of the many facets of the industry Scholarship Committee The Raleigh Chapter scholarship fund has grown throughout the years. Beginning more than 25 years ago with only one scholarship, the chapter has awarded up to five scholarships a year to deserving Wake County students majoring in construction. Occupational Research & Referral Committee works to match prospective employees with prospective employers. The committee also researches construction-related employment for women. CAD/Design/Drafting Scholarship Award Competition The CAD/Design/Drafting Competition is a contest designed for senior high students. Objectives of the contest are to introduce the student to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while fostering a sense of selfworth and confidence. NAWIC Education NAWIC provides educational opportunities. The Raleigh Chapter sponsors several accredited comprehensive home study programs. "Construction Industry Technician (CIT) - successful completion of this course entitles you to use CIT after your name. The "Certified Construction Associate" program is also available, successful completion entitled you to use CCA after our name. Ways and Means Committee Since 1974, a successful fund raiser has been an Annual Golf Tournament. Proceeds from this project supports Scholarship and Education Funds as well as other Chapter activities. |
